12 artists + 6 printmaking presses + 24 hours +1 gallery = good times

Limerick Printmakers Studio & Gallery invite you to a 24 Hour Printmaking Pop Up on Saturday 10th & Sunday 11th March.

The aim of the project is to encourage activity, printmaking, new ideas and fun. There is no theme for the artists, and they will have free-reign of the entire printmaking studio. Some may prepare before they arrive, some may not, some worked individually or collaboratively…while some may rely on the creative process to steer them.

Amongst the 12 artists taking part in this innovative project will be Catherine Mary O’Brien, Orlagh Spain, Dan Kenny, Emilie Doyle, Eithne Deloughry O’Byrne, Meg Kenny, Eva Daly and Alan Crowley.

All 12 artists will meet at the studio at noon on Saturday and then have 24 hours to make work which will be finished and ready to be exhibited in the gallery unframed 24 hours later. It is up to the artists if they want to make individual work or collaborate, if they want to work through the night, catching a few hours on a camp bed in the gallery or heading home for a quick sleep…

The artists will be using used the etching, lithography, silkscreen, photography and digital print areas to make their work, as well as the gallery space for working in, hanging proofs or just sleeping in.

At the end of the 24 hours, at 12 noon on Sunday morning, there will be tea, coffee and croissants and a chance for people to meet the artists and view the finished works.

The public are welcome to come along and see the printmakers at work until 8pm on Saturday the 10th and then from 10am on Sunday the 11th.  If anyone would like to follow the artists progress during the 24 hours and can’t make it into the studio, we will have a live stream on our 24 hour Print Pop-Up website at www.24hourprintpopup.com so you can watch all the progress and see the work being made!

The work made in the 24 hour period will be exhibited in the gallery space until Friday 16th of March.
